My story

Hi, my name is Laila and I’m a hand poke tattoo artist in Dickson, Ngunnawal Country (Canberra) Australia.

I’m a self-taught poke artist and have been tattooing since 2021. Hand poke or ‘stick and poke’ tattoos are made by pushing the needle and ink into the skin manually, one dot at a time, without a machine.

When I discovered this traditional tattoo method, I fell in love with it. This technique is the oldest form of tattooing with its ancient origins from around the world including: Egypt, Japan, Rome and Pacific Islands.

‘Cruelty Free’ comes from my personal philosophy of living a cruelty free, vegan lifestyle. I only use vegan and environementally friendly products to create my tattoos. My hand poked tattoos hurt less than machine tattoos, so ‘Cruelty Free’ also has a double meaning!

I love designing custom pieces and have a variety of available flash. My art style has an organic look and receiving a hand poked tattoo is a unique and therapeutic experience. All about the vibes!

My approach to tattooing my clients is fun, mindful and inclusive. Everyone is welcome in my studio.
